Follow-up Comment #3, bug #29945 (project grub):
Having a stable image format is not a problem, and I'll happily co-operate as
far as development and testing goes.
Would multithreaded I/O be possible from the bootloader? TuxOnIce is
currently achieving what's probably close the maximum possible throughput, via
a combination of multithreading and LZO (default) compression.
If both of those things could be done from the bootloader, it would be worth
giving it a go.
I do know that work was done by a VMware guy on this about 6 months to a year
ago, but I don't believe the results were open sourced.
