Compiling Guile

Hi,

I'm having problems compiling guile. I'm running an compaq alpha and i'm
using the f77 compiler. The problem is it keeps getting hung up every
few commands. If i ctrl+c it and do a make again it goes by it and then
finally compiles. Then after its done and i try to run the guile-config
manually by a ./guile-config. It says i don't have permission to run it.
I installed guile in my home directory and i have execute permission on
this. Any help would be appreciated.
