That was a version which I've never compiled, so it didn't need a make
clean, however, I'm always forgetting about git gc :-( Thank you for
reminding me.

Wow! :-) Thank you!  I've heard about the LZMA algorithm, but it's the
first time I hear about xz compression, to tell nothing of the fact
that I had no idea that such algorithms have already made their way
into tar filters!
