I guess I'm belaboring the point, but my concern is that a lot more has
changed in the country code list (and all the other files) than this one
thing.  So just applying the patch is not a solution.

You can get the current country code list as a simple text file from
http://www.iso.org/iso/home/standards/country_codes/country_names_and_code_elements_txt.htm
(linked from http://www.iso.org/iso/home/standards/country_codes/, in
the "HTML, Text, and XML" section).

As you may see, unfortunately it seems ISO is going to get rid of these
usable files and replace them with a horrible web-only interface in the
future ("online browsing platform", ugh), but we'll have to cross that
bridge when we come to it.
