Just a thought - this technique simplifies online(!) filesystem
transformation.
I.e. we have simple union filesystem which writes data to both
underlying filesystems (in regular case).
And some daemon process that does copying from 1st to 2nd fs (special
case).
Yes, there are locking/interaction issues but it looks promising IMHO.
