This message is because the ext2 support for parted has been written
at a dark age where elves wer^W^W^W^W^W^W when ext2 didn't has as many
options as today so you basically can't use parted anymore on a modern
ext2/3. To fix this probably several weeks.men of code are needed
(not really sure about that anyway).
You can use ext2resize to resize modern ext2/3 FS.
