Update of bug #61656 (project denemo):
Status: None => Wont Fix
Open/Closed: Open => Closed

Follow-up Comment #1:
This is because there would be choices to be made - if the note in the second
staff were a minim (1/2 note) would it be in or out?
There is a way of doing this however, but it is probably of limited use. You
will recall that the Denemo Display "measures" are not really the measures of
the typeset music, they just usually correspond; they are actually just
"chunks" which allow Denemo to display the music.
So you could use
Command: Split Measure at Cursor
Split the current measure into two at the cursor.
Location: Object Menu ▶ Measures
Internal Name: SplitMeasure
to split off the music you don't want to select from the music you do. The
typeset will remain unaffected, but now the selection will include just the
notes (etc) that you want.
You would then have pesky blue patches where Denemo thought the measures were
underful for which you could use
Command: Ignore Measure Duration Error
Allow too few notes/rests in this measure. Only affects the Denemo display and
error checking, the typesetting will place barlines according to the actual
durations of notes as usual.
Location: Object Menu ▶ Measures
Internal Name: IgnoreMeasureDurationError
However, I can only imagine this might be useful in some special case (while
composing?)...
