oops, that's embarassing...

I agree. The Hide directive seems to be randomly selective in what is 
'hidden'. I found this problem when comparing the hide NoteHead (capital H !) 
to the other directive.

The Hide NoteHead command also correctly spaced the given note within the 
score.
