Yes, that is what I tried to describe. The correct syntax would be

\new Voice = "MvmntIVoiceI" { \incipit { \clef "mensural-c1" \key g
\dorian r2 g'8 a' bes' c'' }
  \clef treble    \key d \minor    \time 2/2   \MvmntIVoiceI }

instead of

\new Voice = "MvmntIVoiceI" \incipit { \clef "mensural-c1" \key g
\dorian r2 g'8 a' bes' c'' } {
  \clef treble    \key d \minor    \time 2/2   \MvmntIVoiceI }

that is the incipit is after the opening brace of the voice instead before.
