Likewise, NSStatusBar. It's mind-boggling that this class (added in "Jaguar", I believe) even exists -- it's antithetical to the conceptsinherent in *step. *step applications aren't supposed to have modes that need status information displayed, because they're supposed to follow theKISS ("Keep It Simple, Stupid!") principle.
NSStatusBar is used to display items in the system-wide menu bar, for instance icons for sound volume, a clock, or airport status. May be it does not make sense in GNUstep, but at least it is not a Windows-like status bar. And in the Mac context, it is useful.
