What you're seeing is not the result of GNUstep "punting" to WindowMaker I 
invite you to look at the code and find anyplace where it explicitly starts up 
WindowMaker.   If something is crashing your window manager, it's possible that 
WindowMaker is being started as a failsafe by your OS.   If you're able to 
start Gorm up and load the file directly, it's likely an issue with PC.

Please file a bug on this, if you can, and we would be happy to fix it. (see 
how the process works? you tell us what's wrong and we fix it!) ;)

It is 100% reproducible here -- it happens every time I do it. Do you
want me to put a bug report in somewhere? (would that be a GORM bug, a
PC bug or a GNUSTEP bug?)  Or does someone else want to verify this on
their system?

BTW, If I DON'T double click the .gorm file, but rather open it up in
GORM (in other words, instead of using Project Center to launch GORM,
I launch it myself and then open the same project from there) it works
fine. (Although, it does not have the windows open the tutorial
assumes it does... I was able to figure that out after a bit of poking
and clicking...)

Also, I had a similar behavior when running some of the examples. It
may be as you say, when it sees an error, it punts to WindowMaker...
but this is not expected behavior...
