And there would be no answer. The key difference with these metaphors is that the "box" is seen as a self-imposed limit of thinking. While the walls around the garden are created by someone an impose limits that you wouldn't have. So these pictures express some very different concepts. Breaking self-limitation vs. breaking external limits. I think your proposal is too generic while the one with the walled garden is better targeted at the GNUstep (and Cocoa) audience.
