    I'm not entirely sure that "captured" is such an apt term.  You see, many
    people's ideologies cannot be definitely placed in one group or the
    other.  Some people are just some where "in between" (for lack of a better
    term).

People with in-between views can be very helpful members of a free
software group, but if their views dominate the group then they start
to shift it toward the open source position.  That shift in the
group's views would attract people with views even further along the
spectrum, so one shift can lead to more shift.  If a group is to
retain a strong stand, its leaders must make sure it does not take the
first step down that path.

People are welcome to collaborate in GNU software development
regardless of their stand on this or any political issue.  However,
our position on free software was been decided long ago, and it is not
subject to change according to who joins the GNU project now.  If you
want to participate, it is on the basis of accepting that our position
is what it is.
