Dear Team,
I would like to get a decision on something that has been bothering me:
the classification and assignment of bugs in pnet.

Currently, I am working on trying to fix some bugs,
but they are not assigned to me. I hear that they are assigned to
someone else, but I cannot see that.

Also, some of my bugs are being closed, before they are resolved.
I dont mind if you say, Severity is minimal, resolution is deferr, but
to just close them, that is not fair.

Savannah has the abilty to store lots more information about a bug that
are not being used properly right now : Category ,Severity ,Resolution,

"Assigned to" is only being used a little, it needs to be used more
often. If I want to help out, I should be able to assign a bug to
myself that is not assigned. Then others can see that am working on ti.

There are more fields that you can turn on :
Priority,Reproducibility,Planned Release

Here are some suggestions :
Category
Generally correspond to high level modules or functionalities of your
software (e.g. User interface, Configuration Manager, Scheduler, Memory
Manager...)

This can be ILASM, C# Compiler, ILDAsm, ILRUn, ILDB

Severity
Impact of the bug on the system (Critical, Major,...)
This can be used to show that a bug is not important

Bug Group Select Box Characterizes the nature of the bug (e.g. Feature
Request, Action Request, Crash Error, Documentation Typo, Installation
Problem,...
This is not used at all, it would be great to have some more
catagories.

Resolution
How you have decided to fix the bug (Fixed, Work for me, Duplicate,..)
Here you can put, not critical.

Assigned to
Who is in charge of solving the bug
This is not being used for all the bugs.
We need to start using this more.

Status
The status of the bug can be open, closed, deferred.

mike
