I had to check, as it is so long since I used a "typical" app, but the
answer is yes (they are bar cursors, so impossible to find if they
don't do something to draw your attention). See also my earlier mail
about Gnome and CDE apps on my Solaris box (these were a mixture of
I-beam and block cursors, all blinking at various rates).
