Um, I suppose for stuff like freeing up port ranges during testing or
leveraging file permissions for crude access control on a multi-user
system or debugging a tor-only ircd that doesn't bind to anything, etc.
The experience feels slightly snappier as well, but maybe that's just

You can forward normal sockets over SSH, so they must be doing something
special. Anywho, on the list of priorities for ERC, this has got to rank
among the lowest (IMO).
