It works.  Probably I made some mistake on the first try, sorry.

It worked in 20.7, using tex-start-tex-marker.  My own hack uses that
as well and so I didn't notice that it was lost in 21.3.

Of course, once each tex compilation is done in a separate buffer, the
problem will go away.
