Ah.  I didn't realize it was there (or expect it!).  I think if NEWS
said something like `supports several drag-and-drop protocols under X.
See Info node `(emacs)Drag and drop' for details.', that would be
fine.  I assume GNOME uses XDND, in which case I think it would be
useful for the manual to say so.  (I thought GNOME used something
else, though little in GNOME seems to be constant...)

Yes, I doubt it's worth doing, even though I have a fondness for
OpenWindows, especially in long-lost NeWS.

Yes.

It happens with both Emacs and Galeon in the POSIX locale or with
LC_CTYPE=en_GB, but the locale shouldn't make a difference to Emacs
insofar as X gives it enough data, and this is purely ASCII anyway.
