On GNU Emacs 22.0.50.1 (i386-mingw-windows98.3000) of 2005-04-11: `beginning-of-defun' in cperl-mode always moves to the beginning of the buffer. Removing the last (right) parenthesis from `defun-prompt-regexp' in cperl-mode.el seems to resolve the problem.
