Dired-compare-directories uses read-directory-name, so perhaps read-directory-name doesn't work on Mac.
read-directory-name works as intended. Michael Kifer send a few e-mails and I thought he would deal with it. This is about ediff-directories, not dired-copmare-directories. The latter works fine, the former uses `ediff-read-file-name'. - D
