Can someone familiar with the implementation of display properties
comment on this?  I hope it can be fixed but if it is hard to fix, it
would be worth knowing why.  I doubt I'm competent enough to fix it
myself, but still, if someone could also point me to the relevant
part(s) of the source code, I would also appreciate that (though
annoyingly, I am currently unable to use gdb due to a kernel bug).
