double free or corruption

From: Stephen Berman
Subject: double free or corruption

User-agent: Gnus/5.11 (Gnus v5.11) Emacs/22.1 (gnu/linux)

I just updated from the CVS trunk, configured and built without error,
ran `emacs -Q', everything seemed fine, then did `C-x C-c' and the
shell where I started Emacs reported this:

*** glibc detected *** ./src/emacs: double free or corruption (top):
0x087c8c50 ***

and the Emacs instance was frozen and I had to type ^C in the shell to
kill it. I tried a few more times and it was always the same, except
that the message now contained "(!prev)" instead of "(top)". This
also happened when I simply invoked Emacs and did nothing, after a
couple of minutes it froze and the shell reported that message.
Unfortunately, I currently cannot use gdb due to a kernel error.
