at BinaryFreedom we have a new e-request for Brave New Film and activist and independent film company creators of some popular documentaries like "outfoxed"...

http://petitions.binaryfreedom.info

what we are asking?:
Petition for Brave_New_Films
I am writing to you about the media formats you use on your site. Brave New Films currently uses YouTube videos, which are in FLV format, in addition to MOV and MP3. FLV is a proprietary format with poor support on free (as in freedom) operating systems, such as GNU/Linux. MOV and MP3 are both patented formats that can not legally be used by free software. As a progressive organization, Brave New Films should use free formats that can be played with free software. I recommend you encode your videos in Ogg Theora (http://www.theora.org/theorafaq.html) format. Audio can be encoded in Ogg Vorbis (http://www.vorbis.com/). Both Ogg Theora and Ogg Vorbis are unencumbered formats with excellent support on GNU/Linux. There are also players available for Windows. If you are not willing to exclusively use free formats, you should offer them as an option. The current situation is unacceptable, so I urge you to correct it as soon as possible. For more information about free software, see
http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.html.
