I am happy to announce KFV Mode 0.6, a program that helps automate the
Kernel Freedom Verification (KFV) project of the gNewSense GNU/Linux
distribution. Version 0.6 is attached to the end of this email.

Changes since 0.5:

* Now asks for section directory to do, then guesses URL (more robust!)
* Can create a new init file which holds defaults such as base section dir
* New legal language search tries to help you find copyright terms faster
* Avoids (baseless) compiler warnings for those who compile kfv.el
* Other bug fixes, display and doc enhancements, and design improvements

Notes:

* Heavy users will need to take their time in the beginning, since their
habit is to put in a URL, then a directory. But now it is reversed: a
directory, then a URL. Please report any difficulties with this.

* Legal language search is currently an automatic guessing feature. Its
effect is most noticeable when legal language is found in a huge
comment and the comment is recentered on the screen to help you spot
  the legal language.

Features of KFV Mode 0.6:

* Complete a section page of the gNewSense KFV project entirely within Emacs
* Automatic (background) uploading of markup avoids tedious, wasteful
  busywork of a web browser
* Keyboard shortcuts and error checking reduces typos and formatting work
* Tries to help the user visually focus on the legal language
* Automated markup generation gives pages a more consistent look
* Very easy navigation among files, sections, and subsections
* Every function and variable documented for straightforward customization
* Incorporates latest changes to formatting conventions in KFV project

KFV Mode runs under the Emacs editor and has been lightly tested on
Emacs versions 21 and recent snapshots. It is as simple as loading the
attached file in Emacs with load-file and then running the kfv-start
command.

Code and feedback are appreciated. Even if you do not plan to use Emacs
for helping with KFV, perhaps you might consider copying some of
KFV Mode's features into other software.

Have fun.
