The Yeeloong is not a very fast machine and gNewSense currently uses a 
basic and slow video driver because the proper one is still being worked 
on. This might account for video playback being choppy or slow.

Which administrative programs are you trying to use? What do you see 
when you start them?

See if a different method works, e.g. press Alt+F2, type "gksudo 
synaptic" and press Enter. That should ask for the password of your user 
account and then start the package manager.
