I think the problem is that Chromium and Chrome are not software libre,
and include code which is proprietary.  Anyway, I would avoid any
products that come from Google like the plague.  It has been confirmed
that the PRISM program by which the NSA can view internet traffic with
a view to determining your online profile, will be passed on to GCHQ
and thus to the Special Branch, are supported by Google (which
generally means that a backdoor is placed in these browsers).

You may think the risk worthwhile but in any case they have ceased to
be software libre, and should not be in any software repository, such
as that of gNewSense.

If Security and Anonymity is a premium choice, get the Tor Browser
Bundle from:

www.torproject.org

and encrypt your messages with GnuPG and send then through a VPN.  That
way trivial and non-trivial communications will be weighted equally.
