gnokiid and IrDA

Hi,

I managed to get the IrDA chipset of my laptop to work last week (with a
little help), and have successfully gotten gnokii to communicate with my
Nokia 6310i now; xgnokii works without problems (although it sometimes
confuses the IrDA stack if it's still running and the phone is moved out
of the line of sight, but that's a "don't do that, then" issue).

However, I can't seem get gnokiid to work correctly. When I start it, it
creates a /dev/gnokii allright, and I can connect to it. However,
dialing does not seem to work; when I issue an ATD<some number>, it
immediately replies with NO CARRIER -- there does not seem to be any
delay at all.

I suspect this means gnokiid does not detect the device; but I'm not
sure how to debug it. running "gnokiid --debug" doesn't work, and it
doesn't seem to have a "verbose" option either. Any hints?
