Couple of years ago, I did check possibilities of porting smsd. The trouble 
with porting is that running a daemon in Windows is entirely different than in 
*nix. Also at that point smsd did not have a proper automake/autoconfig build 
and building one was not such a trivial task.

For porting one of the easiest thing one could do is use .Net C++ code for 
providing proper interface for Windows Service. It could interface with smsd's 
C code relatively easily. The real trouble with that is that smsd was never 
written with that in mind and some re-writing would be needed. With unknown 
Windows Gnokii user base that task does not have any priority at all.
