I found they specify the Stream as ";RTCM3.1;", whereas in net_ntrip.c
gpsd expects "RTCM 3.1" with a space between.

Ouch.
As a follow-up, the software vendor considered this a bug and has corrected it. So no explicit need for gpsd to support format specifications without a space.
