Sadly, yes, but very little of note. For example the startup NMEA
messages tell you things unavailable otherways.

No way to "skip", but just turn NMEA off:
# gpsctl -b
or:
# ubxtool -d NMEA
So simple I'm not sure whyu it is an issue.
