You are looking at "7.2 Level 1: Building with Guix".
See "7.2 Level 2: The Repository as a Channel",

where there is a "../.." in the 'local-file' argument.

I think it needs some changes, a warning at least. Also I think that
keeping the package definition in additional nested directory like
'.guix/modules/guile/package.scm' is not so bad and can replace
a '.guix/modules/guile-package.scm' variant.
