Dear All,
While I am happy finalising the installs and configuration of GNU Health
on my FreeBSD server here in Kabul, I have had a few problems with the
unsavoury subject of dealing with Windows, and the installation of the
Tryton client therein.
Here is the environment:
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
If I simply install tryton-setup-2.2.1.exe, it does not work (fair
enuff, but this needs one line in the documentation!), yet it does run
after installation of python-2.7.2.msi, albeit with errors when it comes
to sending and reading requests. My (no: any) timezone is not
recognised, and the addition of python_dateutils does not resolve this
issue.
So, I thought I install the bundle. Heere is the new environment:
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600],
python-2.7.2.msi installed as binary from the Python website,
py2exe-0.6.9.win32-py2.7.exe,
setuptools-0.6c11.win32-py2.7.exe
I issued easy_install pip and got that one into the box, too.
Then, I issued: pip install tryton.
And get this:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
error: can't copy 'msvcr90.dll': doesn't exit or not a regular file
-------------------------------------------------------------------
In response to that error message, I did install vcredist_x86.exe, (not
the SP1 verison), which gave me version 10 of the above dll. After some
extra search, I was able to download the dll file itself, and put it
into the c:\windows\system32 directory. Still, no fun, same error.
Needless to say that the *nix-based installation of the Tryton client
via package or bundle works like a charm. Just make sure you get the
right version of python_dateutils, so better use pip!
This highlights two things:
(1) If you deal for too long with Unix, Windows becomes rather hard.
(2) We need - rather urgently - a web client.
Any idea how to solve the above conundrum?
Thanks a lot,
Chris
