Recfiles and htmx inquiry

Hello, and thank you for allowing my subscription to your site. 
I am new to the web programming world, so please excuse me if my request 
appears odd. 
I am looking to build out a simple web page for an end-user to enter search 
terms to query an existing database. I considered using SQLite, but was 
recently introduced to htmx, and then recutils.
Is it possible for the data stored in a recfile to be queried and returned to 
the user in html form (since htmx accepts html data instead of json data)?
Also, is there a file size limitation to a recfile?
Finally, are there any other on line options  (irc channel perhaps?) for 
discussing recutils?
