Hi,

The author of thumbpdf.sty, a widely used (pdf)latex package to generate
thumbnails, says that thumbpdf.sty works with plain tex documents too.
So I tried

@tex
\input thumbpdf.sty
@end tex

but ran into some errors with undefined commands in thumbpdf.sty.
I gave up at this point because I am not a texpert, but it might be a
promising route to follow for someone who is.

    Any other ways to get thumbnails into pdf from TeXInfo?

There is unfortunately no support for thumbnails in the current Texinfo,
in pdf or any other format. It's never come up before, actually. What
kind of document are you working on? (Just wondering.)

The document is a User's Guide for a toolkit for scientific data manipulation called NCO.

All I can think of to do as a workaround is hack texinfo.tex to refer to
the thumbnail instead of the full image. I've never used pdf thumbnails
and don't know any specifics :(.

Sorry I don't have a better answer. Perhaps someone else (Stephen?) has
worked on this?

k

.
