RV: CVS Mail Newbie question

I has repply with this mail to Mark D. Baushke, but I think It's a good idea to 
send it to the general list.
Somebody may know the answer and more people could learn to do it if they had 
the same problem.

The is my situation.

The command   echo test message  body | /bin/mail -s 'this is a test' 
address@hidden works fine,but I do not manage to
notify the commits alredy.

I explain you the cvs structure,and if you can give me an exact example,it will 
be great.
CVSROOT = 'cvs/CVSROOT'    (this is a sun solaris machine "unix")
Users:(all of them linux machines,that can see cvs/CVSROOT because is mounted)
/usr/development1
/usr/development2
/usr/development3
/usr/development4

Modules:(I have a lot of...)
/crc/required
...

I had installed the do Log.pl,as you recomend me. 
 
What I have done:
drwxr-xr-x    2 jlopez   dev         4096 ago 10  2005 log/ (created log 
directory inside CVSROOT)

Inside of log/ 
-rwxrwxr-x    1 jlopez   dev            6 ago 10 2005 commitlog
-rwxrwxr-x    1 jlopez  dev            5 ago 10  2005 filelog

Inside of the directory were I commit my files (one of my modules in a linux 
machine,for example /crc/required)

 .mailUsersOnCommit  (That only contain one e-mail adress).

Modify the doLog.pl

my($cvsRoot)=$ENV{'/cvs/CVSROOT'};   

what is missing? No log is created; Can you help me?

Please can you help me,with an example is the eassiest way that I can 
understand how to configure that.

Hi Jeroni,

If the shell command

   echo test message  body | /bin/mail -s 'this is a test' address@hidden

does not work on your system, you need to get that fixed first. It is
basic to how most of the scripts work.

If that works, then you should be able to follow the step-by-step
installation of any of the various loginfo scripts that exist, such
as the http://cvsenhancements.sf.net/ provides.

The 'general info' you want may be found by reading books. There are a
number of books on cvs out there including an on-line copy of a fairly
good one on http://cvsbook.red-bean.com/ which I urge you to consult.

You could also follow other "howto" information pages such as:

  http://durak.org/cvswebsites/howto-cvs/node39.html

or you could look at the contrib directory in the cvs source
distribution to see other possible scripts.

Most of thsese are step-by-step configuration suggestions for variations
of cvs configurations.

A google or yahoo! search for "cvs howto" should turn up a number of
useful step-by-step general information pages.

Due to other commitments, I will be mostly off-line for the next few
weeks in a few short hours, so you should try your best to get someone
else to help you...
