Sorry, no. My point about the machine not needing to be a mail server
was a hint that you could set up your own, which is what I would do if
I had access to backed up free storage (such as at a workplace). You
could configure the IMAP server to listen on an unprivileged port so
you wouldn't even need root.
Default deny firewalls notwithstanding, of course.
