Hello,
0.19.1 and 0.18.2 are out:
Both contain the same fix:
Improve performance of FPD in temporary background scripts: Limit the amount of
data that is stored to the permanent storage as well as the number of write
operations without a real hit stemming from the need to recomupte the data.
This should address the https://pagure.io/JShelter/webextension/issue/144 as
well as recent complaints on AMO on JShelter performance.
0.19.1 should appear in the stores soon, 0.18.2 is just available through git
or https://pagure.io/JShelter/webextension/releases.
Regarding user count: We are more or less on the same numbers of users in both
browsers as we were last year during this period of the year.
Interesting observation: Chrome Web Store reports like 10% of Windows installs,
1% of Linux installs and 88% of other OSes (it looks like most of our users
hide their OS from the store). Nevertheless, regarding uninstalls, 74% are from
Windows, 14% Linux, 9% Mac OS, and just 2% are others. It is not easy to
interpret but it looks like skilled users keep JShelter, which makes sense and
should be even more visible as the MV3 version needs the developer mode.
Another interesting observation: Russia is the second largest country that
installs JShelter but it is not listed in the top 3 countries where users
remove JShelter. US, on the other hand is the top where people both install and
uninstall JShelter.
Best wishes,
Libor
