In my opinion, the users don't want to be free.
Choosing between to be free (and limited with the rest of the people) and to be no-free (and the illusion to be it), many choose the last. This includes both software/hardware stuff and modern socialnetworking stuff. Many users use any Operating System without know who is the owner of that software and don't want to know (restricting yourself) therefore, i think, the GNU's targets are confined.

My questions are:

Can GNU expand the own catchment area further ?
Can GNU reduce these restrictions ?
Can GNU resolve these problems by itself ?

Regards.
