Actually, I wanted one of these, http://makeplaylive.com/. However,
I've waited a year already and according to their info person, it's
likely another year again before they actually have product to ship.

My next best option is Android on a tablet. Android is open source, and
while not wholly free yet, it's sure better than the alternatives.
