Problem with that is not that anybody is "tearing apart". The largest
problem are proprietary vendors like Facebook, Whatsapp that have
taken over previously decentralized pool of users.
IRC has been designed to be split apart and that is good thing. That
Libera.chat came into existance is good thing, apart from drama. But
drama causes good things too.
Several IRC networks split due to disagreements with previous
owners. It was always something good.
