If we do this, we should move our maintenance rules into Makefile.maint
ala autoconf, and not distribute those either...

I'm with Scott here, it may actually be useful to run bootstrap in a release tarball, but commit and mail scripts are quite useless.

-1 for adding commit
-0.5 for removing bootstrap

Okay, I'm preapproving a patch to remove the mailnotify script from EXTRA_DIST, if any of you beat me to it.

What do you think of pulling the maintenance rules out of Makefile.am into a non-distributed Makefile.maint?
