I think just setting $tst_dist from `dist' to `distcheck' in
tests/testsuite.at, or, alternatively,
  make check-local TESTSUITEFLAGS='tst_dist=distcheck'

should cause the same amount of test coverage, and also avoid another
set of expensive autotools runs.
