ah, Ok. I get it now.
I think that #'flag-style -> #'stroke-style is ok -- and flag-style
can be used for mensural stuff. We can catch the change in convert-ly,
so compatibility should not be a problem.
As for your idea to make a separate Flag object, that is a very
radical change. If we introduce a Flag object, we should go all the
way, and make the length of the stem and the location of the flag
dependent on each other. I don't yet see how to do this cleanly, but
then again, I haven't thought about this.
I'm not sure if that would make our life easier. Stem has lots of
complex interactions with the dot, chord, spacing and collision
code. Introducing a Flag object would upset all those relations.
