Well, actually, I didn't.

When you send me a compressed file, I have to save it, uncompress it,
run diff by hand to see what is changed, and copy it by hand. I don't
care if the diff is longer than the original. If you send me three
separate files, I have to do it three times. Argh.

I applied it for this time, but I want `cvs diff' output next
time. Then I can read the patch, and pipe the e-mail through my
patch-lily script. Much more convenient, and when I've made a local
change to the file, I don't overwrite them.
