After several hours I got this:
# Extract LilyPond website tarball ...
tar -C debian/lilypond1.7-doc/usr/share/doc/lilypond1.7/html -xvzf

tar: debian/lilypond1.7-doc/usr/share/doc/lilypond1.7/html: Cannot
chdir: No such file or directory

dpkg-buildpackage failed!
make: *** [deb] Error 29
That seems like a typo and I indeed don't have that directory.
Ideas?
