As far as I am concerned, the current state should be fine.

Hopefully. Maybe it would make sense to have some of the core
translators manage the cherry-picking into the translation branch? That
way, it can happen in a more timely and regular manner than my typical
try-doing-something-in-the-last-minute-before-a-deadline approach.
