the first eight measures should end with a double bar, and the rest
should be repeated once.  i'm trying to do this with this in my global
definition:

        \skip 1*8 \bar "||"
        \repeat volta 2 { \skip 1*20 }  

the :| line is drawn at the end, but there's no |: at the start of
measure nine.  am i doing something incorrectly?
