I'm 72.
I started using Lilypond because it's free,
and easy to use for a quick-and-dirty job.
I've continued to use it for its ability to set
Renaissance music: scholarly
appendages to notes, incipits, Petrucci
style breves and longs, indefinite length
terminal longs...
It's a lot better than what I did in the early
70's doing ASCII art for pieces from the
Odhecaton! From that I moved on to
doing some work with Don Byrd's engraving
program, originally done with a pen and
ink plotter.
