The byte 0x7f is silence in u-law (payload type 0, which is default). I think oRTP does that just to keep the decoder/sound card fed with something, when no data is received (equating to packet loss?).

If you are trying to send text, try changing the payload type/profile.

Hi all,

First I noticed this with my own programs, and then tested it with
rtprecv.c and rtpsend.c: if I simply send any textual file using these
two programs, after the file is completely submitted, and rtpsend.c
exits, rtprecv.c keeps receiving as much 0x7f's as fit the receive
buffer (eg. 160 for rtprecv.c).

Is this a silence indicator and can this be ignored? Or, am I doing
something wrong?

Cheers,
Danilo
