Hello,
Sylvain Letuffe has recently reported some benchmarks on the usage of
osm2pgsql on a server using SSD as their storage device. The original
mail, in french, is available at
http://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk-fr/2010-May/021293.html.
He had three boxes:
* Box A, 2 Go RAM, 2 SATA hard-drive in RAID0 10k
* Box B, 32 Go RAM, 2 SATA hard-drive in RAID0 10k
* Box C, 8 Go RAM, 2 SATA SSD (Intel SSDSA2M080)
Full Europe import
* Box A, 7 days
* Box B, 3 days
* Box C, 8 hours
Mean duration of the import of minute diffs
* Box A, 50 seconds
* Box B, 30 seconds
* Box C, 3 seconds
When can we get a SSD for the MapOSMatic server ? :-)
Thomas
